Exceptional Performance and Capabilities in a Compact Package

Environmental monitoring is a critical aspect of conservation efforts, particularly in the delicate ecosystems of coral reefs.

Traditional methods involving divers and hand-held professional cameras have served well but come with limitations in depth and efficiency, especially given a need to revisit the same location over time. Boxfish Robotics designed the Boxfish AUVs that address these challenges and revolutionised environmental monitoring.

Drone survey without compromise on image quality

The Boxfish AUVs are designed to be deployed from small boats, and autonomously conducts photo survey gathering 20MP RAW images and broadcast video quality from its large sensor camera. Additionally, a stereo camera set obtain size data without the need for deploying objects of known size into the survey area.

The Boxfish AUVs provide high-quality color images, geolocation data, and size data thanks to its stereo camera, which result in high precision photogrammetric models and making it versatile scientific tool of both natural and artificial reefs monitoring. No other commercial system on the market offers the same capability and image quality comparable with current scientific diver surveys.

After completing its survey, the Boxfish AUV returns to the boat or dock, ready for redeployment to a new or same location. This process can be repeated multiple times a day and over time with high precision of attending the same location using saved paths, which significantly enhancing the efficiency of field surveys.

A underwater dockable solution called ARV-i, autonomous resident vehicle, can be installed to live in its dock underwater and on command can head out and do a survey. It charges and transfers data wirelessly from the dock.

Additionally, the Boxfish AUVs can record CTD and other environmental data while taking photos, offering a comprehensive understanding of the underwater environment.
